AAERT Certification Committee

The AAERT Certification Committee is seeking active volunteers.

Goal and Purpose.  The Certification Committee maintains the certification exams for digital court reporting and transcription that are available to AAERT members.  The Committee grades the practical portion of the certification exam.  The Committee also updates all certification-related materials.

Projects and Tasks.  Certification Committee activities may include:

  • Monthly committee meetings via teleconferencing
  • Research best practices in electronic reporting and transcribing
  • Work in concert with the Education Committee to ensure the certification exam reflects the latest trends as updated and reflected in the Best Practices Guide.
  • Explore alternative testing options for best delivery to our members
  • Create test questions for the theoretical exam
  • Determine certification testing protocols in concert with the Executive Director
  • Discuss, create, and implement a CEU process for maintaining certification
  • Answer  questions posed by AAERT members and the general public about the certification process

Involvement and Commitment.  Committee members are asked to commit one hour per week to committee-related issues and be flexible enough with schedules to attend occasional in-person meetings, if necessary.  Substantial progress is made using email exchanges each month.  All Committee members will be encouraged to attend the Annual AAERT Conference.

Qualifications.  Committee members are required to be an AAERT member in good standing and hold a current AAERT certification.

Any further questions can be directed to Raymond M. Vetter, CER, Committee Chair, Raymond.Vetter@aaert.org or (202) 441-1385.
