9. Court reporting involves listening at length
to people with whom you do not extensively interact.
You will not generally speak unless required to do so by your recording
needs, such as politely -- and briefly -- asking someone to move closer to a
microphone or to speak up.
In fact, a reporter does not react in any personal way to what is heard or seen while in court or at a deposition. Of course, you are a team player with your own staff (if any) and with the transcriber[s] who produce the written record. Just be aware that most of your work will not directly engage you with other people. |
