11. Transcription involves listening to lengthy
recordings of people with whom you cannot interact. Thus, in
some respects, you will work in a relatively isolated environment.
Of course, you are a team player with the E-reporters who provide the audio recordings you transcribe. Just be aware that most of your work will not directly involve other people. Successful transcriptionists make up for this by intellectually engaging the case as they work through it. How? By paying close attention to facts and details, by noticing when evidence is persuasive (or flawed), by following the legal arguments as objections arise -- in short, by mentally "observing" developments as if you were actually there with the parties in court. |
