2. Typing speed does not ensure
successful transcription, although it helps.
No matter how quickly spoken words are transformed into text, if the result is presented poorly, if a speaker's phrasings are misunderstood, the transcript will suffer. Care and accuracy are more important than mere production speed. Those present in court not only HEAR WHAT IS SAID, but hear its TONE. They also get to SEE body language. Those with an audio recording of the case get to HEAR, but not SEE what occurred. Those who read a transcript depend on us for an accurate rendition, because they do not get to hear OR see any aspect of the proceedings. |
