Georgia On My Mind

by Michael Tannen, CSEP

"Just an old, sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind." Sounds like a great place to be, so I welcome everyone to mark your calendars for some southern hospitality and a very educational conference. Atlanta, Georgia will be our host city for AAERT’s 24th Annual Conference, and the Conference Committee is busy putting all the pieces in place for your time to network and improve your skills as a professional digital court reporter and transcriber.

We have revised our schedule to assist in accommodating our busy lives. This year, we will continue to include our Executive Forum at the front end of our conference for our Corporate and Vendor members with topics on business and operational matters. The key change will be our shift in our schedule by one day, where the main conference will begin on Friday afternoon with exhibitor time and a welcome reception. Educational sessions will be on Saturday and Sunday. The Conference dates are Friday, June 23 to Sunday, June 25, 2017.

Our schedule will offer networking opportunities throughout the conference, along with some group and one-on-one time with our various exhibitors. Sessions will include topics on grammar, Word/WordPerfect/PDF Tips, depositions, digital reporting, interpreters and a few other topics that are still in the works. We are pleased to announce that The Honorable Judge John K. Edwards from the State Court of Lowndes County, Georgia will be our opening speaker.

Look for full information on our host hotel, conference pricing, available sponsorships and educational sessions once our online registration goes live on February 23rd. Plan your schedule to allow some time to enjoy Atlanta and see the many attractions they have to offer. So, keep AAERT and Georgia on your mind and on your calendars for 2017.
