Final Touches for Louisville, Kentucky - AAERT 2019

by Michael Tannen, CSEP

AAERT Executive Director

After the Kentucky Derby in May, we will be descending upon Louisville for AAERT’s “Keeping on Track with Technology” Conference. The AAERT Conference Committee has been working on providing attendees with solid, two-tracked educational and CEU-worthy sessions. They have included some networking time to speak with your peers and even a little down time to explore the sounds and sights of Louisville.

Our host hotel, the 21c Museum Hotel, is one of the top-rated hotels in Louisville. It uses artwork as its décor. It’s bound to make you do some double takes as you walk through the lobby, the hallways, and even the restrooms. I will say no more, but you have to check it all out when you arrive. Before you even walk into the hotel, you will know that you are in for an adventure for the next several days. Visit the hotel website at, then click on Louisville.

Let’s talk about your educational opportunities during the conference. The Conference Committee has spent hours discussing and planning to meet your need for CEUs. Sessions will be designed to offer new speakers with practical topics to assist you in your work and daily life. The Committee is planning two-track sessions, with one geared towards the transcriber and the other towards the reporter. Plans are in the works for a group tour on Friday of the Louisville Courthouse, which is only 2½ blocks away. Other sessions will include round table discussions, marketing boot camp, creating a proper recording kit, understanding AI, and many other worthwhile sessions to keep you engaged and educated.

Don’t procrastinate! Put June 20th to 22nd on your calendar now. Be sure to include time to go on a Riverboat tour, check out the Muhammad Ali Center, or even stop at any of the bourbon tasting facilities close by. All of this is within walking distance from our hotel. Watch for registration to open in early April.

See you in Louisville!
