A Call to Action

by Gail Malm Armstrong, CER, CET

“It is not in numbers, but in unity,
that our great strength lies.”

Thomas Paine, 1737 to 1809, was an English-American political activist, philosopher, political theorist, and revolutionary who authored the two most influential pamphlets at the start of the American Revolution. He inspired the rebels in 1776 to declare independence from Britain. His ideas reflected Enlightenment-era rhetoric of transnational human rights. He has been called "a corset maker by trade, a journalist by profession, and a propagandist by inclination.”

AAERT has always sought to embrace enlightenment and to ride the wave of change. This is a call to action.

Our condolences to the husband and family of AAERT Corporate Member Carolyn Mauney, Louisville, KY
March 4, 1956 ~ April 21, 2017

Carolyn Mauney

William E. Wagner, II passed from among us on July 7, 2017.

Since its founding in 1994, AAERT has represented electronic court reporters and court transcribers. Bill was elected to its charter board of directors, was treasurer for 14 terms, and served four terms as Executive Director. For a number of years he assisted in preparing content, graphics, and layout for The Court Reporter, the Association's quarterly journal now known as Sound Bytes, which began as a hard-copy, mailed publication. While you may have never met him, today's AAERT is largely due to Bill's efforts.
