SOUND BYTES - Oct 2016

Segue or Not to Segway

by Antoinette M. Franks, CET

One thing we run into often in the world of transcription that we live in is the constant challenge of homonyms. For most, it's a nonissue because they execute the majority of their communication verbally or through informal email and text. But for us, homonyms can have the effect of a natural disaster in our documents.

Personal Innovation

by Raymond M. Vetter, CER

At times we become so accustomed to our transcription routine that we forget our own creativity. It's a Matter of Ethics

by Brittany Donnell, CET

"Moral principles that govern a person's or group's behavior"

This is how the Oxford University Press defines the word ethics. Ethics? That's not a word that comes to mind every day, but it should. Or maybe the "thing" we call ethics is really our conscience, and most people know what a conscience is.

Mike Turner

Our condolences to the wife and family of AAERT Corporate Member MIKE TURNER, Birmingham, AL
1953 - 2016

“My deepest condolences are offered to Mike's family on their loss of Mike, especially his wife Mickey. Throughout all of my years of practicing law in Birmingham, I've never met anyone more friendly or generous than Mike and Mickey Turner. Their company Freedom Court Reporting has given much for the legal community and in turn the legal community reciprocated by making Freedom Court Reporting one of the most successful and respected court reporting companies in America. Mike will truly be missed."
Attorney Anthony Piazza
