It's Back to School wherever you look these days. Summer is over and a slow August will typically be followed by a very active September for our members. AAERT's Education Committee has seen an uptick in schools requesting assistance and approval of digital reporting and transcription programs.

 




Digital Recording? Fine, But I Still Need a Transcript.

I once had a federal judge explain to me, in detail and with great conviction, that digital recording would never be adopted as an acceptable court reporting method. His argument was simple: Digital recording was fine, but judges and lawyers needed a written record. Since getting a transcript from a recording was difficult, time-consuming, error-prone and expensive, the method would never work.

AAERT Conference 2019 - Roundtable Results

Attendees at the 2019 AAERT Conference enjoyed a lively roundtable discussion in the final session. The roundtable was paired with a bourbon tasting presented by the host hotel, 21c Museum Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky. Between sips, participants were asked to share and discuss their solutions and resources for a number of talking points, and the results are in:
